1. Kevin Warsh confirmed as Fed chair

Kevin Warsh was confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday as the 17th chair of the Federal Reserve, succeeding Jerome Powell, who has led the central bank since 2018. Warsh was also appointed to a 14-year term on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

Warsh, nominated by Trump in January, was confirmed in a 54-45 vote, with only one Democrat joining the Republicans in support. The vote marks the weakest level of Senate backing for a Fed chair since the position became Senate-confirmed in 1977.

Warsh replaces Jerome Powell, whose term as chair ends Friday, May 15.

A White House spokesperson, Kush Desai, called the Senate’s confirmation of Warsh ā€œa welcome step towards finally restoring accountability, competence and confidence in Fed decision-makingā€.

2. 5 fastest-growing cities in the U.S. are in Texas

Princeton ranked third with an 18.1% increase, behind Fulshear, TX, at 21%. Melissa, TX, followed in fourth place at 14.5%, with Anna, TX, rounding out the list at 10.25%.

5. Zillow sues Compass over private listings

Zillow filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against Compass and Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED), alleging the companies worked together to limit public access to certain homes for sale and penalize Zillow.

According to Zillow, Compass and MRED are protecting and expanding private listing networks that keep some properties off public portals, reducing visibility for buyers who are not working with specific brokerages.

Zillow is seeking an injunction to prevent MRED from enforcing the disputed rules or restricting Zillow’s access to property data. The lawsuit comes two months after Compass dropped a separate antitrust case against Zillow that accused the company of anticompetitive practices.
